What is step by step onehalf x+ one fourth x=12?

Answer:

x/2 +x/4 =12

we can get the common denominator as 4 which divide both 2 and 4,

2x/4+x/4 =12

(2x+x)/4 =12

cross product, (2x+x) =48

3x=48

x= 48/3

x=16
