Elimination method

Given equations are 3x -11y = 2 ---> (1)

x -5y = 2

Multiple to each side by negitive 3.

-3x +15y = -6 ---> (2)

To eliminate the x value add the equations (1) & (2).

  3x -11y = 2

-3x +15y = -6

________________

4y = -4

Divide to each side by 4.

y = -1

Substitute the y value in (1).

3x +11 = 2

Subtract 11 from each side.

3x = -9

Divide to each side by 3.

x = -3.

Solution x = -3, y = -1.
