The least common denominator (LCD) of two fractions is the least common multiple (LCM) of the denominators of those fractions.

Method 1:
Multiples of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64 etc
Multiples of 15: 15, 30, 45, 60, etc
Least common multiple of 4 and 15 is 60

Method 2:
list the prime factors of each number
prime factors of 4 = 2 x 2
prime factors of 15 = 3 x 5

LCM is the product of each factor the greatest number of times it occurs in any number.
LCM = 2 * 2 * 3 * 5= 60
Least common multiple of 4 and 15 is 60

rewrite the fractions using LCD

1/4 = 1* 15 / 4* 15 = 4/60

2/15 = 2 * 4 / 15 *4 = 8 / 60.
