(a) (1/a) =1

1/a is the multiplicity inverse of a

A)7

(7)(1/7)=1

1/7 is the multiplicity inverse of 7

B)0.25

(0.25)(1/0.25) =1

1/0.25 is the multiplicity inverse of 0.25

C)-5/8

(-5/8)( -8/5)=1

-8/5 is the multiplicity inverse of -5/8

D)-36

(-36)(-1/36) =1

-1/36 is the multiplicity inverse of -36

The multiplicative inverse (reciprocal) of a is 1/a.
the product of a number and its multiplicative inverse is 1. a * 1/a = 1

A.
7 * multiplicative inverse = 1
multiplicative inverse = 1/7

B.
0.25 = 1/4
1/4 * multiplicative inverse = 1
multiplicative inverse = 4

C.
-5/8 * multiplicative inverse = 1
multiplicative inverse = -8/5

D.
-36 * multiplicative inverse = 1
multiplicative inverse = -1/36

Additive inverse property
a + - a = -a + a = 0
