Probabilities are

P(a) = 0.1

P(d) = 0.3

Then P({a,d}),

We know that P({a,d}) = P(a) + P(b)

P({a,d}) = 0.1 + 0.3

P({a,d}) = 0.4

Therefore P({a,d}) is 0.4

Option (c) is the correct answer.
