Solving for x help math?

5=x+(2/x-1)

The given equation  5 = x +( 2/ x -1)

5x - 5 = x2- x +2

x2- 6x +7 = 0

Apply  the quadratic  formula  - b ± (√b2- 4ac)/2

= 6 ± ( √36 -28)/2

= 6±(2 √2) /2

= 3 ±√2

The solution is x = 3 +√2 and x = 3 -√2.
