The equations

2x - y   =   4    ------------>  (1)

3x + 2y   =   -1    --------------->  (2)

Multiply equation (1) with "2" and add it to the equation (2)

4x - 2y   =   8

3x + 2y   =  -1

(+)   (+)     (+)

-------------------------

7x   =   7

x  =  1

Substitute x = 1 in equation (1)

2(1) - y   =   4

2 - y   =    4

-y   =   4 - 2

-y   =   2

y  =  - 2

The Solutions are x = 1, y = - 2.
