1)

√(9 - 2x)  =  3 - 2√x -------------> (1)

Squaring on both sides

9 - 2x  =  [ 3 - 2√x ]^2

9 - 2x  =  9 - 12√x + 4x

12√x  =  9  + 4x - (9 - 2x)

12√x  =  6x

[ 12√x ] / 6  =  x

2√x  =  x

Squaring on each side

[ 2√x ]^2   =  x^2

4x   =  x^2

x^2 - 4x  =  0

x(x - 4)  =  0

x  =  0     ;      (x - 4)  =  0

x  =  0     ;      x  =  4

2)

5 - √(1 - 4x)  =  - x

x + 5  =  √(1 - 4x)

Sqaring on each side

(x + 5)^2  =  [ √(1 - 4x) ]^2

x^2 + 10x + 25  = (1 - 4x)

x^2 + 10x + 25 - (1 - 4x)  =  0

x^2 + 10x + 25 - 1 + 4x  =  0

x^2 + 14x + 24  =  0

x^2 + 2x + 12x + 24  =  0

x(x + 2) + 12(x + 2)  =  0

(x + 2)(x + 12)  =  0

(x + 2)  =  0     ;       (x + 12)  =  0

x  =  -2            ;        x  = -12
Answer :

 1) The solutions are x  =  0 and x  =  4

 2) The solutions are x  =  -2 and x  =  -12
