7- 2+3.[6-8]/5^2-3^2+(-6)(-1)

Order of Operations:

To simplify the expression follow the order of operations: (PEMDAS)

1.      Evaluate the expressions inside the Parenthesis/Brackets (P).

2.      Evaluate Powers/Exponents (E).

3.      Multiply and/or Divide in order from left to right (MD).

4.      Add and/or Subtract in order from left to right (AS)

A simple technique for remembering the order of operations is turned into phrase "Please Excuse My Dear Aunty Sally".

simplify the expression 7-2+3.[6-8]/5^2-3^2+(-6)(-1) using order of operations.

First operation is evaluating expression within the parenthesis.

= 7 - 2 + 3.[-2] / 5^2- 3^2 + 6

Next operation is division

= 7 - 2 + 3.[-2] / 25 - 9 + 6

Next operation is multiply

= 7 - 2 + [-6] / 25 - 9 + 6

= 7 - 2 - 6 / 25 - 9 + 6

= 13 - 11 - 6 / 25

= 2 - 6 / 25

Rewrite the expression with common denominator.

= (50 - 6) / 25

= 44 /25
