1 a). Write algebraic expression for the each situtation:

Sanding machine available time = 6 hours = 6 * 60 minutes = 360

2s + 5c + 5t = 360

Staining machine available time = 5 hours = 5 * 60 minutes = 300

2s + 4c + 4t = 300

Varnising machine available time = 6 hours = 6 * 60 minutes = 360

4s + 3c + 6t = 360

2 a). Write algebraic expression for the each quantity:

Amount he spent on accomodation = 580

20e + 60f + 40s= 580

Amount he spent on food = 530

40e + 30f + 35s= 530

Amount he spent on travel = 420

30e + 20f + 35s= 420

1a) Gien information canbe represented as

stools chairs coffee tables
sanding  time(in min) 2 5 5
staining time(in min) 2 4 4
varnishing time(in min) 4 3 6

Sanding machine available time = 6 hours =360 minutes

2s + 5c + 5t = 360

Staining machine available time = 5 hours =300 minutes

2s + 4c + 4t = 300
Varnising machine available time = 6 hours =360 minutes

4s + 3c + 6t = 360

1b) obtained equations are   2s + 5c + 5t = 360

                                             2s + 4c + 4t = 300

                                            4s + 3c + 6t = 360

image

so 3t=60

t=20

substitute t in c + t = 60  and get c= 40

similarly s=30

ans : s= 30 , c = 40 ,t = 20

didn't get... how you got c + t = 60 and s = 30, could you please explain..

From reduced matrix we can write  following  equations

2s + 5c + 5t = 360  ------------(1)

- c - t = - 60

c + t =60   ------------------(2)

3t = 60

t = 20

Substitute t = 20 in equation (2).

c + t =60

c + 20 =60

c = 40

Substitute c = 40 and t = 20 are in equatiuon (1)

2s + 5c + 5t = 360

2s + 5*40 + 5*20 =360 ⇒ 2s =60

s = 30

So ans : s= 30 , c = 40 , t = 20

Now i got the answer, thank you.

2 a). Write algebraic expression for the each quantity:

Amount he spent on accomodation = 580

20e + 60f + 40s= 580
Amount he spent on food = 530
40e + 30f + 35s= 530
Amount he spent on travel = 420
30e + 20f + 35s= 420

2b) obtained equations are  20e + 60f + 40s= 580

                                           40e + 30f + 35s= 530

                                           30e + 20f + 35s= 420

The above equations can be further simplified as

                                          2e + 6f + 4s= 58

                                           8e + 6f + 7s= 106

                                           6e + 4f + 7s= 84

image

2e + 6f + 4s = 58  ----------(1)

-18f -9s = -126

18f + 9s = 126     ----------(2)

2s=8⇒s=4

put s=4 in equation (2)

18f + 9s = 126

18f + 9*4=126

18f=90

f=90/18⇒f=5

put s=4 and f=5 in euation (1)

2e + 6f + 4s = 58

2e+ 6*5 + 4*4 = 58 ⇒ 2e = 12

e=6

Ans: s = 4 , f = 5 , e = 6
