Given equation 5x^2 + x - 2=0 -----------(1)

Compare(1) with quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c = 0

Therefore a = 5, b = 1, c = -2

x = (- b+or-sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/2a

x = (- 1 + sqrt( 1^2 - 4(5)(-2)) ) / 2(5)  or (- 1 - sqrt( 1^2 - 4(5)(-2) ) / 2(5)

x = ( -1 + sqrt( 1 + 20*2 ) ) / 10     or  ( -1 - sqrt( 1 + 20*2 ) ) / 10

x = ( -1 + sqrt(1 + 40) ) / 10  or  ( -1 - sqrt(1 + 40) ) / 10

x = ( -1 + sqrt(41) )/10   or  ( -1 - sqrt(41) ) / 10

Therefore roots of the equation are x = ( -1+sqrt(41) ) / 10 or x = ( -1-sqrt(41) ) / 10
