The inequality is x^2 - 5x - 24.

x2-5x-24

x2-8x+3x-24

x(x-8)+3( x-8)

(x-8)(x+3)                               (By the zero product property)

(x-8)(x+3) = 0

x-8 = 0 or x+3 = 0

x-8 = 0

Add 8 to each side.

x-8+8 = 0+8

x = 8

x+3 = 0

Subtract 3 from each side.

x+3-3 = 0-3

x = -3
