Given point (-3,-3) and slope m= 2/3

Line passes through the point (x1 , y1) =(-3,-3)

Formula of the line equation is (y - y1) =m (x - x1 )

Substitute the point (-3,-3) and slope m=2/3 in above formula

y - (-3) ) = 2/3 (x - (-3) )                    (simplify)

y + 3 -3 = 2/3 (x + 3 )-3                    (Subtrtact each sude by 3)

y  = 2x/3  -1                                      (simplify)

y  = 2x/3 - 1

The slope intercept equation is y  = 2/3(x) - 1.

  • Point - slope - form of a line equation is y - y1 = m(x - x1), where m is slope, and (x1, y1) is the point lies on the line.
  • Slope - intercept - form of a line equation is y = mx + b, where m is slope, and b is y - intercept.
