Direct Variation is when the line goes through the origin (0, 0).

First we need to solve for slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is sope and b is y-intercept.

5x + 9 = 2y -4

Add 4 to each side

5x + 13 = 2y

Divide each side by 2

y = 5/2x + 13/2

No, this is not a direct variation because it has a y-intercpet (13/2). This means that it does not go through the origin.
