Direct Variation is when the line goes through the origin (0, 0).

First we need to solve for slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is sope and b is y-intercept.

The line equation is 2y = 5x + 1

Divide each side by 2

y = (5/2)x + (1/2).

Direct variation equation is passes through the origin.

No, this is not a direct variation because it has a y - intercpet (1/2).

This means that it does not go through the origin.
