what is the quotient when x^3-5x^2+3x-8 is divided by x-3

Given polynomial x^3-5x^2+3x-8

Dvisior x-3

x-3 = 0

Add 3 to each side.

x-3+3 = 0+3

x = 3

By synthetic dvision

(x^3-5x^2+3x-8)= (x-3)(x^2-2x-3)-17

Quotient  is x^2-2x-3 and remainder is -17.
