PHYSICS HELP HOMEWORK?

A human body could convert the energy contained in a candy bar directly into work. A candy bar contains 1.1 x 10^6 J of energy. How high can an 82-kg man climb a vertical ladder if he can only get energy from this candy bar?

The Energy of the Candy bar is 1.1 * 10^6 J.

Weight of the man is 82 kg.

When a man is climbing the vertical ladder then the only force acting is gravitational force acting downwards F = mg

Therefore the Energy is the Potential Energy E = mgh where h is the height of the

E = mgh

h = E/ (mg)

h = (1.1*10^6) / (82 * 9.8)

h = 1368.8 m

Therefore the Height of the ladder that the man can climb is 1369 m.
