Ratios and Proportions:Converting a Recipe

In this assignment, you will be using a recipe of your choosing and using ratios to convert the recipe to make enough for 50 people. 

Step 1: Choose a recipe that has at least 4 ingredients.
Step 2: List all the ingredients and the amount of each ingredient in the recipe.  Also list the number of servings it makes.  You do not need to list the directions, only the ingredients.
Step 3: Choose at least four of the ingredients to convert.  For each ingredient, set up a proportion that will find the amount needed of that ingredient to make a recipe for 50 servings.  Showing all work, find the amount of each of the four ingredients you chose. 

 

Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • One 12-ounce bag semisweet chocolate chips

Step 1:

Choose a recipe that has atleast 4 ingredients.

Consider the ingredients required to make cookies.

Assume this makes 20 servings of cookies.

Step 2:

Find the amount of ingredient required for 50 servings.

Set up a proportion for each ingredient.
